The Early Childhood Center: Nurturing Children, their Families and the Community

We are proud to offer a state licensed, community-based child care center. Both the child care and preschool divisions are open as early as 7:00 am and as late as 6:30 pm each day. Highlights of the program include music, gym and swimming instruction, as well as various special events throughout the year. The facility is housed on a spacious campus, which boasts separate indoor and outdoor play areas for toddlers and preschool students, indoor and outdoor pools and a shaded picnic area. Breakfast, snacks and a hot lunch (all kosher) are included in the program at no extra cost. Enrollment is open to children ages six weeks to five years of age. The program is based on Jewish values and celebrates the traditional Jewish heritage, while embracing all children of diverse ethnicities and affiliations.

Notice
No child will be discriminated against because of race, sex, color, national origin, age, or disability. If you believe you have been discriminated against in the operation of the Child Nutrition Program, write immediately to the Secretary of Agriculture, Washington, DC 20250.

Please contact the Early Childhood Director, Sandi Newman, at (908) 289-8112 Ext. 27 to arrange a tour of the facility or for further information about the programs.

Special Events

The many Special Events on our calendar make the “Y” an exciting place for children all year long. Annual highlights of the program include: The Back to School Bash, Thanksgiving Feast, Chanukah Concert, Winter Luau, Purim Magic Show, Pajama Day, Puppet Show and the Spring Fling. These events are generously sponsored by our P.A.B. (Parent Advisory Board.)

Parent Involvement

We believe that continuous, open communication between parents and all members of the “Y” staff is essential in order to maximize every aspect of your child’s experience here at the “Y”. Together, we share in the joy of watching your child grow and develop over these tender formative years. For our very young children, communication written daily is sent home to keep parents well informed of their child’s day. For older students, weekly newsletters are sent home to keep parents abreast of school activities. Our directors have an open door policy to encourage parents to share their questions, suggestions and concerns. We pledge that all parents will be listened to, treated with respect and we will do our very best to respond to all concerns in a timely manner. We believe that it is a privilege and an honor to partner with you in caring for your children.

Ways to Get Involved

We encourage all parents to get involved in the “Y” experience to the extent that they are able and in the capacity that best suits them. We hope that all of our parents will have the opportunity to take part in some
of our parent groups, attend our special events and volunteer to share their expertise with us.

Parent Advisory Board

The Parent Advisory Board (P.A.B.) focuses on fundraising, special events and programs for the Early Childhood department. In addition to sponsoring events such as the Back to School Bash, Spring Fling Dance Party, and
holiday celebrations, the P.A.B. is constantly looking for new ideas to invigorate the Early Childhood department. All parents of children enrolled at the “Y” are welcome to serve on this committee and contribute to the exciting programs. President: Allison Weiss

The Early Childhood Committee

The Early Childhood Committee works closely with the Early Childhood Directors to evaluate the programs and services offered to our children. This committee is instrumental in setting policies and goals for the entire department. One must be a “Y” member in good standing to serve on this committee. Committee Chairperson: Jane Sarwin
